A letter to mariners — introducing Hitch

Shipmates,

Out here the questions don’t wait for the pier. They show up on the midwatch, in the tank, at the rail when the weather turns — and too often they get answered by whoever’s loudest in the mess, or they get lost until the next shore school bill comes due.

I’m building North 37 so the curriculum stays free and the path to the credential stays honest. Behind that school we’re building something I want you to meet by name.

His name is Hitch.

Hitch is Seafaring Intelligence — the AI we’re putting behind North 37. He isn’t a chatbot for killing time. He’s the database of the questions mariners actually ask: what you need signed off, what you’re stuck on, what the book said and the sea didn’t. He keeps track of those questions while you’re underway, and he marks assessments when they’ve been properly assessed — not when someone waved a pen, but when the work was real.

Think of him as the mate who never forgets what you asked last trip, and never lets a sign-off float past without the proof behind it.

Education stays free. Hitch is one of the tools that helps you stay organized for the credential — at sea, on your time, under officers who know the trade.

If you’ve got a question worth keeping, bring it. Hitch is built to hold it.

Fair winds,
Wayne
